The Oscar winner plays various characters in this adaptation of Viet Thanh Nguyen's 2015 novel, and Susan Downey is one of the show's executive producers.
Robert Downey Jr. couldn't make it without his wife!
The Iron Man star, 59, appeared on the red carpet with his wife Susan Downey on Tuesday, April 9, to attend the premiere of his new HBO limited series, The Sympathizer.
The couple shone on the red carpet outside the Paramount Theatre in Los Angeles as they awaited a first glimpse at the Oppenheimer star's latest historical drama, for which he serves as both executive producer and performer. Susan, 50, is also one of the show's executive producers.
Downey donned a Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello brown suit with a black, see-through shirt, while Susan wore a sleeveless ankle-length dress with flowery motifs.
Downey Jr. is no stranger to openly expressing his love and appreciation for his wife, most recently addressing her during his Oscar acceptance speech.
"I'd want to thank my veterinarian—I mean wife—Susan Downey over there. She discovered me, a snarling rescue pet, and loved me back to life. That's why I'm here. "Thank you," the actor remarked at the 2024 Oscars on March 10.

Based on Viet Thanh Nguyen's 2015 novel of the same name, Downey Jr.'s next series portrays a French-Vietnamese spy (Hoa Xuande) working for Communist troops in the final days of the Vietnam War. Downey Jr., Sandra Oh, and Fred Nguyen all play various parts in the episode.
In addition to playing many roles and executive producing The Sympathizer, the Avengers actor shown even greater dedication to his craft in October 2022 by letting his two children with Susan assist him shave his head for the program.
The video shows the couple's daughter Avri and son Exton mischievously running a hair trimmer over their father's head.
The Sympathizer premieres on HBO on April 14.
